How To Ubuntu 14.04.1 Server Trusty Tahr Installation

 Ubuntu 14.04.1 Server Trusty Tahr Installation

"Canonical announces the latest Ubuntu release, 14.04 LTS desktop will be available for download from the 17th April 2014. The long-term support (LTS) release is supported and maintained by Canonical for five years, making it the most stable, reliable, secure and cost-effective desktop for long-term, large scale deployments within enterprise and public sector organisations today."

Ubuntu 14.04.1 Server Download


After you downloading the ubuntu 14.04.1 Server Trusty Tahr iso, follow this instruction of how to making the cd/dvd ubuntu 14.04.1 Trusty Tahr and insert the cd/dvd to cdrom and reboot your computer.

Start Install Ubuntu 14.04.1 Server Trusty Tahr

[1] Insert the cd/dvd disk for start installation of Ubuntu 14.04 and then reboot your computer. Next, Choose Language English and pres Enter.

[2] Choose Start Installation and push Enter key to start.

[3] Again, select the Language of your installation process.

[4] Now selected your country timezone, it means where you live right now, this is will be used by the system.

[5] Select your locale

[6] Select "No" option, because we will use default keyboard layout.

[7] Select keyboard type to English US.

Select English US
[8] Now time to set your server hostname as you like.

[9]  Setup the user account that will we use alter. Username that been setup here is will be default administrator user by its default.

[10] Input username for login as you desire

[11] Input the password you desire, more complicated more secure.

[12] Encrypt your home directory with choosing "Yes" to be more secure.

[13] Allways make sure the time-zone is setup correctly, and push yes.

[14] This section is for configuring the partitions. On this example we will uses "Guided" like follows.

[15] Select the disk to start create partitions.

[16] if all allready ok, answear with push Yes

[17] Allocating the amount of disk that will be used by LVM ( Logical Volume Management ) . Push "continue"

[18] If it's completed configuring the partitions. Answer with push "Yes".

[20] Base system installation is on going.

[21] If you using the proxy set the parameter, otherwise push "Continue"

[22] In this step, we will chose "No automatic updates", becau we will doit
manually later.

[23] Select Open-SSH softwares to install. And push "Continue"

[24] Answer "Yes" for installing GRUB in Master Boot Record (MBR).

[25] Installation process has been completed. Remove installation disk, then continue, computer will reboot.

[26] If installation sucessfull after the reboot, your screen will be look like below.

Your ubuntu server 14.04 trusty tahr has been completed, there's still alot more thing you need to acomplish such as, configuring the OpenSSH server to be more secure and many more.
